Safe Touch, Unsafe Touch, Confusing Touch
Formally known as Good Touch Bad Touch, this program teaches children that "my body belongs to me." It helps children know what to do to get help if someone touches them or tries to touch them inappropriately. While many schools already teach this curriculum, those who have preschool groups, home-school groups, and private school groups may be looking for certified trainers to offer the curriculum. Call for more information.
Stewards of Children/Darkness to Light
This program focuses on adult education. It teaches adults specific strategies that they can take within their offices, community groups, or child-serving agencies to reduce the risk of child sexual abuse. Through externally validated research, the program has been demonstrated not only to increase adult awareness of child sexual abuse, but also has been shown to change adults behaviors. Combining a powerful video with adult survivor testimonies that give insight into how sexual offenders were successful gaining access to children, with a workbook designed to help adults to form plans of action to protect the children they are responsible for, this program is a wonderful addition to our prevention offerings. The Children's Center for Hope & Healing now has 2 staff certified to offer this training. Call for more information.
In addition, the agency has a number of excellent speakers who are available to speak to your group about sexual abuse and how the community can work to keep all our children safer.
Other Ways We Can Help
Training, Education, and Consultation: As experts in the field of sexual abuse and the treatment of children who have sexual behavior problems, the agency is available for consultation and educational workshops on a number of associated topics. To arrange a consultation, presentation, or in-service for your staff, civic group, church group, or group of school personnel, call 770.532.6530 to discuss your needs and how we can tailor a program to meet your needs.
Psychosexual Evaluations: While the agency has the expertise to conduct excellent psychosexual evaluations, at this time, the Children's Center for Hope & Healing is not accepting referrals to conduct them. Instead, the agency is focusing its efforts on treatment. However, the agency maintains a list of private practitioners to whom we can refer people needing to obtain a psychosexual evaluation which we can share with you.
