Complex Developmental Trauma: Diagnosis and Treatment in Children & Adolescents

  • Participants will understand how to differentiate simple trauma, complex trauma, and complex developmental trauma.
  • Participants will become familiar with types for intervention for simple and complex developmental trauma in children & adolescents.

Testifying in Court for Psychologists, Counselors, and Social Workers

In this workshop, participants will learn about the court system, including the different types of courts, the various people involved in the court process, subpoenas, and legal and ethical responses to subpoenas.  Participants will also learn about the different types of witnesses that are called to court and how they might prepare for court depending on which type of witness they are called as.  This workshop will also cover guidelines for how to provide effective testimony.  Ethical guidelines from APA, ACA, and NASW that related to providing court testimony will be reviewed and discussed.  Finally, common prosecutor and defense tactics will be discussed.

  • Summarize ethical issues relevant for mental health professionals who testify in court.

THRIVE! Sexual Healing After Trauma

Sexual trauma survivors often report feeling trapped within their bodies. Sexual intimacy can be triggering and experienced as an act of self-betrayal. Ultimately, survivors desire a level of healing that honors their right to live a happy, healthy and fulfilled life. This workshop offers research-based information to increase understanding of the impact of trauma, particularly Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA), on the adult survivor. In addition, it introduces integrative practices to foster the survivor’s will to THRIVE!
