Myth: Children who are sexually abused will never recover.
Fact: Many children are quite resilient, and with a combination of support from their parents or caregivers and effective counseling, they can and do recover from such experiences.

Our Programs
Our specially trained therapists work with youth, children, women and families through individual, group, and family therapy. Using a variety of interventions including art therapy, play therapy, and cognitive behavioral intervention, we are able to work with even the youngest children. While our services are designed for children ages 4 to 17, we have worked with child victims as young as 2.
With all of our programs, safety is an important goal. We work with families to develop safety plans to keep their children safe. We also work with children to help them learn to keep themselves safe. In addition, we focus on healing and on reducing trauma symptoms.

Women's Services |
No-cost therapeutic counseling for children and teens (boys and girls, ages 4* to 17)who have been the victim of sexual abuse. Through a wide range of techniques from play therapy, art therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy in individual, group, and family therapy sessions children experience healing and find a safe place to talk about the abuses they have suffered.
Some of the many goals of the Victims Services Program include teaching children's non-offending parents how to better protect their children from harm in the future.
Some of the teenagers in the victims services program benefit from group therapy where they are able to learn that they are not alone, that other teens have experienced the same things that they have experienced.
Services are available in Spanish as well as English.
*Call 770.532.6530 if you have a child younger than age 4.

Pathfinder is about turning lives around. It is about working with children who have sexual behavior problems--many of whom have been victimized themselves--and helping them to get back on track in life.
Pathfinder works to make sure the community is safe by ensuring that children who have engaged in inappropriate sexual behaviors get the help they need. The teenagers with which Pathfinder works have been adjudicated.
The program works on empathy, teaching children to take responsibility for their actions. Restitution is one of the expected goals of the program.
When children and teens in the program have underlying trauma issues, the program also addresses that trauma.
Because both Pathfinder and Victims Services are housed at the Children's Center for Hope & Healing, Pathfinder is especially well-situated to work with families where inter-familial, "child-on-child" abuse has occured. Pathfinder is able to serve the needs of all the children and--if appropriate--work on family reunification.
Services are available in Spanish as well as English.

Women’s Services works with women who have survived child sexual abuse. The program strives to assist women in making the transition from victim to survivor, decreasing their sense of social isolation, increasing their sense of self-worth and value, increasing their sense of hope, and increasing their survival skills.
Often--though not always--these women are the mothers or grandmothers of the children we see in our Victims' Services Program. Helping women whose children are in the Victims Services program not only helps the adult survivor--a worthy goal in and of itself--but also helps that woman to be able to support her own child in recovering from trauma. It also decreases the risk that her child will be abused in the future.
Any woman in the community who is an adult survivor of sexual abuse may participate in our program. Contact our office for more information.
Services are available in Spanish as well as English. |

Prevention & Other Services
Training, Education, and Consultation: As experts in the field of sexual abuse and the treatment of children who have been sexually abused and/or have sexual behavior problems, the agency is available for consultation and educational workshops on a number of associated topics. To arrange a consultation, presentation, or in-service for your staff, civic group, church group, or group of school personnel, call 770.532.6530 to discuss your needs and how we can tailor a program to meet your needs.
Psychosexual Evaluations: While the agency has the expertise to conduct excellent psychosexual evaluations, at this time, the Children's Center for Hope & Healing is not accepting referrals to conduct them. Instead, the agency is focusing its efforts on treatment. However, the agency maintains a list of private practitioners to whom we can refer people needing to obtain a psychosexual evaluation which we can share with you.
Prevention: The agency has personnel certified in the Good Touch, Bad Touch curriculum and can do presentations for young children on this topic.
In addition, the agency has a number of excellent speakers who are available to speak to your group about sexual abuse and how the community can work to keep all our children safer.
