Tips for Success

Personalize Your Page: Tell Your Story

Tell people why you care about this cause and this agency. Do you know someone who has been affected by the issue of child sexual abuse? Have you volunteered for the agency and seen its good work? Have you met someone we've helped?

Pictures

Make your page your own with your personal picture or use a picture that is meaningful to you from the collection below. NOTE: These pictures are licensed to the Children's Center for Hope & Healing and are not for use except on our website and materials. Do not use them except on our campaign materials!

Use social media networking tools.

If you're on facebook, myspace, linkedin, twitter, flikr, or any other social media networking site, spread the word. Let all your connections know that this cause is important to you, that they can give and that they can help raise funds also!

Ask your friends more than once.

Sometimes when you ask someone and they don't reply, they've thought "I'm going to respond to that later" and then they've forgotten about it. So don't assume that just because your friends don't immediately go to your firstgiving page and make a donation that that means that they're not interested in giving. It may simply mean that they've forgotten or haven't gotten around to it yet! Send them a polite reminder. Ask again. It's okay and you'll often find that they really did intend to give and just didn't do it immediatley.

Ask everyone.

Give everyone a chance to help the cause. Don't rule people out, thinking "my friend Susan can't give right now" or "Joe doesn't care about this cause." The single most common reason a person gives is that they are asked. So ask away. Let people know that you care and many of them will care too, just because you've asked them to.
