Sponsor a Child |
Your Gift's Impact on the Community |
Because we work so hard to hold down costs, the cost of treatment for a child is roughly $500. This provides, on average, eleven months of counseling for a child. If a child were to go to counseling weekly in the community to a for-profit professional, the cost would range from $3,000 to $5,000. Our low-cost is made possible through careful stewardship of every dollar. Sponsoring a child is a great project for a group! If you’d like, you can contribute this by check or credit card or you can team-up with a group of friends, colleagues, members of your civic group, or others from your church to Sponsor a Child. Without treatment, children who have been sexually abused are at high risk of developing alcohol or drug problems, teen pregnancy, academic failure, being a school drop-out, eating disorders, depression, health problems (including high blood pressure and diabetes), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or even at-risk of committing suicide. By donating to the Children's Center for Hope & Healing, you help to make the children in our community who have been abused healthier, safer, and more successful. This means your gifts to us play a role in helping children succeed in school, keeping the community safe and healthy, and increasing the likelihood that children will grow up to be productive and employed adults. Abuse is often cyclicalProviding treatment for a child who has been abused is the best way to break the cycle. Your gifts make treatment possible and reduce the likelihood that future generations of children will be abused! |
Each year, we hold an online fundraising campaign during the month of April, asking people to give to the organization. We choose the month of April because April is April is National Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month & Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
You can participate in the campaign by volunteering to raise funds. It takes very little time. All you have to do is send cards or emails to your friends and ask them to go to your web page and make a gift to help our programs. In 2009, we raised $18,000 through our Sponsor a Child campaign. Help us raise even more in 2010. Click the orange button below to get started. For help, call 770-532-6530 or email Judith Brauer for more information.

Tips for Fundraising Success with the Sponsor a Child Campaign
Most of the children we see come to us in the after-school hours. They usually arrive just after school or during dinner time. They are often hungry. A hungry child can't concentrate. In addition, many of our children come from homes where there isn't a lot of food to begin with. We enjoy being able to offer our children snacks during therapy.
One way you can help is by becoming a Snack Sponsor of the Month. You can do this by giving cash designated for snacks or by holding a snack drive at your place of employment, at your church, or within your civic group. In 2009, the the Forsyth County Employees Snack held a snack drive, collecting wrapped individual-sized packages of peanutbutter crackers, pretzels, cookies, and other treats that provided snacks for the children for several months!
